Memory Boxes

A memory box from 2014.

Items needed for memory boxes (Please only new/unused items)

Flower seed packets (Forget me nots are a great idea)

Small journals

Small plush animals (Teddy bears or lambs are great options)

Small picture frames (no larger than 4x6)

Small photo album (for single 4x6 pictures)

Small keepsake items such as angel figurines, pendants, etc. (Etsy is a great resource.)

Small handmade baby blankets

Knit layettes or preemie size gowns

Headbands for girls

Small bow ties for boys

Hand/Foot clay impression kits

Blank cards the staff can send to families on anniversaries

Memorial items geared specifically towards fathers 

*Candles, bracelets and tea packets are not needed this year.

Earth Mama Angel Baby is a company that offers products specifically for babyloss. Any of those items would be welcome additions to the memory boxes

I have an Amazon wish list created where items can be purchased and sent directly to The Harper Project. Click HERE for the link to the list. The items listed on the wish list are just ideas or examples, feel free to buy other items similar to the ones listed, and feel free to purchase items from other retailers.

The approximate cost for each memory box is $40, this includes the box, decorations, seeds, journal, small keepsake, small plush animal, 4x6 picture frame, bracelet, headband/bowtie, photo album and candle. Handmade items such as blankets, etc. would then be added if they are received. 

If you would like to donate an item that is not on the list please contact me, I may have missed something that would be a welcome addition to the memory boxes. The items listed are things that we received in our memory box or that the staff at Mercy Hospital recommended. 

Handmade items are encouraged. 

Just keep in mind when making or purchasing items that they will be given to families who are experiencing the most devastating loss they will ever have to endure. So for example, a picture frame that is designed for a newborn baby may not be the best option. A simple, plain white or black frame might be a better choice. The hospital also recommended staying away from items that are overtly religious. 

 *** The last day to make donations for this year will be April 30th 2015. *** 

That will give me time to get everything put together. I will be posting updates on things that we are in need of as item donations start to come in.  

Any items not used in the memory boxes for 2015 will be used in future donations.
