2015 Memory Box Donation

First, I want to apologize for not updating the blog sooner. I am great about posting when I want donations but not so great about the follow-up and for that I am truly sorry.

THANK YOU to everyone who donated this year!!!

Because of you I was able to again donate 20 memory boxes to Mercy Hospital. The staff there could not say enough about what these boxes mean to the families who receive them.

Our crazy 2 year old was not excited about having her picture taken.

We made the donation on July 10th, the 3rd angelversary for Harper. It was super special this year because the nurse who was by my side the entire time we were in the hospital delivering Harper was there and we got to see her again. She truly was a God send at that time for us. She was amazing and I pray for her daily. So it was SO great to see her on that special day.

After the donation we went to Sea Life Minnesota at the Mall of America and had lunch at The Hardrock Cafe. This year was a little different for us and I am actually a little disappointed. Our life is so busy and revolves around our living children I felt like we didn't do enough to honor Harper on what would have been her 3rd birthday. We didn't even do a balloon release this year. It kind of felt like a regular day.

Next year we will do better little one. I promise you. (More on that for another time...)

The Harper Project 2015 Launch

For those of you who may be new to The Harper Project, my name is Sara and on July 10th, 2012 my daughter, Harper, was stillborn. It is the single most devastating thing my husband and I have ever experienced. But out of the devastation The Harper Project was created.

The goal of The Harper Project is to reach out to families in the hospital who are going through the pain of losing their baby by donating memory boxes, care items and support in the hopes of bringing a small amount of comfort and healing to these families.

This year I am kicking the project off a little earlier. I am expecting and due the day after Harper's angelversary so I'm hoping to get the boxes finished well ahead of our planned donation day, July 10th, 2015.

I've made a few small changes to the way I'm doing things this year, mainly for my own ease this year but also because I learned what did or didn't work last year.

Thursday, February 12, 2015

First and foremost I want to thank everyone who helped make The Harper Project a huge success in 2014. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! Whether it was donations of items, money or just encouraging thoughts and prayers, I am forever grateful. It is because of all of YOU that I was able to donate 20 memory boxes and 10 Mommy Care Kits to Mercy Hospital on July 10th, the second anniversary of Harper being born silent into the world.

Loading up the minivan with memory boxes & mommy care kits.

It felt good to do something positive on a day that is so sad for our family. We dropped ofs the donations and then spent the day together as a family with our daughter Stella in our arms and Harper in our hearts.

We stopped for a picnic lunch.

Later that evening we release balloons with letters attached that we had written for Harper. We did this the first year and it's a tradition we are hoping to carry on. (To be honest the actual act of releasing balloons kind of bothers me. I always feel like it's littering and worry about animals getting caught up in the stings. So if anyone has idea's of other things we could do I am open to hearing them. But I do like watching the balloons float up and I usually watch until I can't see them anymore. I'm always curious as to where they end up.)

Celebrate with the angels!

The Harper Project This Year:
I am going to try and get things started a little early this time around. I am hoping to have all 20 memory boxes completed before June 14th. Honestly, last year was a little bit of a learning curve for me and I'm sure as each year passes I will change things and adjust them to what works the best.

So be on the look out for updates on the project coming soon!!!

If you have any questions in the meantime feel free to email me at theharperlynnproject@gmail.com
